TMJ/TMD

When the joint that connects your lower jaw to the rest of your skull (temporomandibular joint) is out of alignment, it can cause an array of seemingly unrelated, mysterious symptoms. These can include:

  • Headaches
  • Jaw soreness and pain
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Facial pain
  • Numbness or tightness in the neck
  • Muscle soreness and stiffness

Dr. Briscoe has advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ problems. He can help reposition and “retrain” the muscles in your jaw to treat the above symptoms. This is achieved through the use of a TMJ splint or a Kois Deprogrammer. A Kois Deprogrammer is a small plastic device which allows the jaw to close in a relaxed position. The teeth can then be adjusted or restored to keep the jaw relaxed.
